Abstract
The urban structure of the city, which includes historical areas, contains many cultural monuments and buildings of a long-standing historical character. Renovating and reviving these areas works to improve the urban fabric in the city center and helps enhance the quality of life in it. The reliance on achieving integrated urban development in these cities is based on... Resilience and sustainability remain in their three dimensions (environmental, economic and social), in addition to integration with spatial and regional importance and the cultural role in upgrading and improving the city’s historical area. This research paper will shed light on the historical area in downtown Luxor, achieve the principles of integrated and sustainable urban development in its three dimensions, and form a balanced urban structure in which there is harmony between man and the spatial environment, and works to provide services and activities that serve tourists and contribute positively to enhancing the historical background. For the place, strengthening community ties and preserving local culture, the goal is to enhance the urbanization of these historical areas, try to benefit from the existing economic components, achieve optimal use of public spaces and private areas redeveloped in the city center, and set development controls and guidelines to support preservation, development and redevelopment efforts, in order to resist Risks and emergency disasters, in the form of an integrated, flexible society with the ability to adapt and sustainable urban development, to achieve quality of life for our people and preserve the heritage of the city of Luxor.
